Providing Wonder and Inspiration
This is based on a story prompt provided by the Story Engine. It’s pretty cool. I will not reveal what I drew until the story is done.
“Look,” Claire said, fidgeting. “I need you to come with me.”
Oscar gave a massive smile. “I have a good life here. I’m a physician. Why not stay with me?”
She could punch him in the face, toss him in a sack, and drag him out of town. But chances were she’d get lots of questions she couldn’t answer, and they’d frown on kidnapping a physician.
“No. I need you to come with me.”
“But why?” Charm made way for curiosity as his brows rose and he leaned in more.
“Because I was told I need you to complete what I’m doing.”
“What are you doing?” The interest in his eyes died.
Claire wondered if the voice saying she needed Oscar to come with would mean he would come with no matter what, or if she could mess everything up.
“I’m fulfilling a great destiny.” A slight intonation failed to make her sound assertive.
“What type of great destiny?” He took a step back.
“Look, I hear voices. I’m hanging out with a giant monster. We need to go west. I was told by the voice that you need to join me. Please join me.”
“What’s in it for me?”
“I don’t know.” Throbbing surged through her temples. “Adventure? You get to see the Behemoth? You—”
“I’m in.”
