Paul R Davis

This was going to be everything about my writing. It has become a journal, really. If you want only the business end of the stick, please head over to the Lands of Volden. You will find writing information, flash fiction, lore, and so on from the worlds that are being published for the project between Dana Villa-Smith and myself. As time goes, whatever gets published by me will end up with that url instead of this one. This will be almost exclusively emotional, with a few flash fiction because that helps me put together this world we live in.

I’m a published author. Eat your heart out, world. There is a published page which has the books I’m in, or the books I wrote entirely by myself.

I write as a way to process the world. Most of my stories take people and events in real life and turn them into something fantastical because it’s just easier for me to understand and process.

My inspiration for the base of my stories comes from mythology and other ancient writings. They are my favorite by far, there is just so much fun in them. You have Ehud, likely the first of the assassin order with his awesome yet simple skills. There is Loki who plays tug of war with a goat, using their testicles. Gilgamesh was a tyrant king who learned compassion through the death of a friend. This is our source material, and we often forget it, we get away from it. I want to bring people back to these.

I also like women, and while I do not have a pretty face, abs you can wash clothes on, the social skills of a politician, etc., I do have my words, and they are gosh darn fine words. So I use it to woo. I’m batting around 0 and 50 the past couple years, so I’ve also been working hard at refining my linguistic abilities. As Robin Williams said, “Language was invented for one reason, boys – to woo women – and, in that endeavor, laziness will not do.”

Personally, I enjoy adventure, but I have to force myself to do it. I face depression, I suffer anxiety, I use breathing exercises to keep my blood pressure and heart rate low, avoiding break downs in a similar way to the Edward Norton Hulk. I have loved deeply and passionately, and I love those around me deeply every day. I avoid passionately because many of them are married.

I’m a Christian. It is my foundation. I struggle with it, I am a sinner and a hypocrite, but God is a gracious and loving God and forgives me. So that I can screw it up all over again. I am part of the LCMS, my brothers are LCMS pastors, and my nephew wonders why it’s taking me so long to become a pastor. I have no desire to pursue a masters, though I always pursue knowledge. If I ever am to become a pastor it will be on the street, in the way of the apostles, with nothing but my clothes and the charity of strangers.

Thank you for stopping by, I do hope you enjoy what you find here, and I pray that in some small way I can touch your life.

God Bless,

Paul R Davis

  1. Paul, just found your site through…somewhere??? Love your pieces under religion. That’s kinda what drew me in. I’ll be following and hope I can be of some support there. Especially with the patience and forgiveness part. Blessings to you.

    • Thanks so much! The forgiveness is actually coming along okay…generally πŸ˜‰ Patience is still wanting. Hope they make good reads.

    • Things I meant to comment on but got super backed up and then forgot! Biscuits and gravy.

Thank you for the nomination! I unfortunately don’t usually do award posts, so likely will not post it up, but still, awesome to get nom’d. πŸ™‚ Keep up the good work that you got nominated!

  4. If you don’t mind me asking, where in Wisconsin do you live?

    • South eastern WI. You give a lot of information on your profile. Watch yourself πŸ˜‰ The internet is dark and full of terrors.

      • Oh okay, how do I give out “too” much information? Just curious.

      • Based on your “About me” it wouldn’t take a person very long to find you. Protect your identity.

      • Thank you. Your parents thank you as well. πŸ˜› Ahem, but also thanks for stopping by! Hopefully I’m entertaining. Will return the follow.

      • Thank you! My parents probably do, lol, I changed my “about me.” Less of an actual risk to my safety now. πŸ˜›

      • …thanks. The internet is a horrible place, but so many shiny things. Also, welcome to my little digital domicile! Hope you enjoy the stuff.
